2014 COVE Events
The success of our 25th Anniversary events, especially Harmony Day 2014, was due solely to our amazing volunteers which consisted of past and present COVE participants and their families, former COVE staff, and many members of our community. (Click on images for photos and videos.)
The COVE celebrated with special screenings of the "Best of COVE Videos" and a Silent Auction. The evening was dedicated to Patrick Johnson and The Johnson Family who provided The COVE with a rent-free space for 25 years! Honorees included: Anne Lawrence (Program Officer, The Bowne Foundation), Charlie Shayne (retired CEO of Kingsbridge Heights Center), and G. Oliver Koppell (former NYC Councilman, District 11). The Spring 2014 Showcase screened two short films, and included a Martial Arts demonstration by the Saturday Martial Arts students, a Q&A with the creators of the Drama and Comedy shorts, and a singing performance by a COVE teen. For event photos, click here.
The COVE celebrated with the community and hosted a good old fashion block party, Harmony Day 2014, thanks to the support of all our volunteers. The event took place on Gates Place between Moshulo and Allerton Streets. The turn out was fantastic, plus the Bronx Borough President's Office officially proclaimed August 9, 2014 as "the COVE day in the Bronx!". For event photos, click here.
Every year COVE Teens, staff, and Board extend an invitiation to the families for a potluck Thanksgiving dinner during school break as a way to get to know each other. By invitiation only.
